While other boys may have feared or even been anxious about spending a night with Faye, Peter was completely relaxed about the situation. There was nothing about Faye that made him nervous. Well, almost nothing. He was mostly busy planning the events for that night, though. Some marshmallows would be a must. Scary stories, if they had time. But he was sure that most of the night would be spent with either the two laughing in eachother's arms or just catching up. As Faye stated her love for Peter, he blushed again. What was it with his blushing today? He hardly ever blushed this much. "Aw, Faye. You're so sweet. I love everything about you too, hun," he said with a grin.
Peter kept his eyes locked on Faye, willing her to tell him what she was thinking. She must know that, if in the sliver of a chance she did like him, she'd have to make the first move. Peter never made the first move with girls, he was far too awkward. As he searched her brilliant blue eyes he sighed, not finding anything. "Whoever he is, he's not good enough for you," Peter said seriously. This was true even if the boy who'd caught Faye's affections was him. He, of all people, did not deserve Faye, and he knew this.
Peter shook his head, rolling his eyes. "You're the mastermind here, Faye. I'm just the good looks," he teased, winking. They both knew that this was in fact the opposite. Though Peter thought himself handsome in a quirky way, Faye was far more beautiful than he was handsome. He laughed as she defended herself. "I do love it," he agreed. His eyes locked with her again as she leaned against him, smiling down at her. They didn't need words, and he loved that about their friendship.

Their sleepovers were normal things. At first, it was nerve-wracking, but it got easier each time. She'd wear something that covered all that needed to be, and just snuggle into him. He was warm, and he didn't mind that she snuggled, or curled herself up when they slept together. And then the morning would come, and it would be another day. Nothing was awkward for them anymore. After three years, it was nothing, really. As for tonight, she figured...yeah. A romantic star-gazing confession. Perfect. Absolutely perfect! She had it! The perfect confession. And it'd be sweet, and they'd kiss, and fall asleep together, and the next morning might be awkward, but he'd know, and Faye'd feel better. It was pefect. And he blushed again. Adorable. "Aw. Thanks, Peter." He loved everything about her. Hopefully he was as serious as she was.
Faye could see him, wanting to know who this mysterious boy was. She hid any emotion, and simply let her eyes stare back into his. All she wanted to do was go camping already. And tell him what she'd been waiting to tell him for three long years. "Whoever he is, he's not good enough for you," She gasped, shocked he said that. "If he's not good enough for me, then who is?" She asked her friend, curious to hear his answer. "And besides, I'm not good enough for him." The blonde added, a little hesitance in her voice. It was the truth. Peter could have anyone. Why would he want Faye? She was just a friend. That person you trust almost as much as the person you love.
The blonde laughed, bringing herself back to reality. "Bullshit. I may sound concieted saying this, but I am the good looks more than you. But I am also a vindictive mastermind. I have the best of both worlds." She flipped a piece of hair over her shoulder, a attitudal statement. "I do love it," She grinned. "You better. You better." The blonde teased, running her fingers up and down his arm, her gaze still on him.

Peter thought about Faye's present, now worrying that she wouldn't like it. He had initially wanted to plan a surprise party for her. One with all of her friends. Faye was used to parties, though, and he wanted this to be different. His actually present was something new for him, something people wouldn't expect and that was good. It was also slightly embarrassing, and perhaps why that's why he wanted a day with her to himself. He knew that wasn't it completely, though. Peter was selfish and he wanted Faye to pay attention to him and only him. If he threw her a party, sure she'd stick with him the whole time. But she'd have to talk to other guests as well. Whereas if Petter was the only one there, Faye had no one else to steal her attention. Peter smiled as she thanked him, pulling her against his chest and hugging her tightly. "Anytime," he replied honestly. "It's just so good to be home."
Peter couldn't help but wonder who this mystery man was. Who could Faye be interested in? Woody, he supposed. But that just...didn't seem right. Woody was a great guy, but not right for Faye. Faye needed someone less uptight. Someone who could be crazy with her. Someone more like himself, honestly. But even he wasn't good enough for Faye and he knew that. She deserved the best, and that just wasn't him. "Honestly? No one," he laughed. "You'll just have to be single forever. But don't worry, I plan on being single forever too. We can room together!" "And besides, I'm not good enough from him." Peter frowned at this, genuinely angry. "Faye Tinker, I better not hear you say anything like that every again. You're perfect, Faye. You're beautiful, smart, funny...there is no one on earth too good for you." And that was his honest opinion. Faye deserved the best. She was worth it.
Peter frowned. "Well, great. It's good to know I have no part in this relationship," he said pathetically, jutting his lower lip out. He knew Faye would argue, but that's how he felt sometimes. Faye was the best of both worlds and he was neither. Sure he was smart, but mostly school smart. And he didn't even act school smart, so mostly he was just...Peter. Though he put on a brave front, smiling and resting his forehead against Faye's closing his eyes and breathing in deeply, enjoying the feeling of her fingers along his arm. He honestly could stand there with her all day and be perfectly content.

She could've taken Peter camping for his birthday. Or made him something. Or given him that thing she'd bought over the summer. A friendship locket type thing, that she'd put two pictures of them in. She'd gotten the two, and wanted to give one to Peter, but it seemed silly now. Or maybe not. She'd have to see. But she figured just a day, the two of them together, doing anything Peter wanted. And she meant anything. And though that thought scared her just a little, she decided to go with it. He hugged her, and she returned it, wrapping her arms around him, holding him tight. "I'm happy you're home. I'm happy we're home." The blonde nodded.
Alright, time to word it. 'Peter, I wanna tell you something'. That was a good start. Maybe she could kiss him if no words came out? That worked. It seemed like no words could describe it. And besides, kissing would make it all clear. To both of them. No one? Single forever? Oh hell no. She laughed. "I'm not going to be single forever. I need my constant attention. You going to give me that forever, Peter?" She asked with a raised brow. But then...then he got angry. And that surprised Faye a lot. But what he said next really made it all worth it.
"Faye Tinker, I better not hear you say anything like that every again. You're perfect, Faye. You're beautiful, smart, funny...there is no one on earth too good for you."
Her cheeks heated up. Peter thought that about her? She opened her mouth to disagree, but shut it, not wanting to ruin it. But they changed the topic again. She laughed. "You can be the pretty too, if you want." The blonde smiled up at Peter. Really, Peter was gorgeous, and smart, and funny, and silly...he was half of her. He was a total part of this relationship, friendship thing. And that was one of the many reasons she loved him so much. She closed her eyes when he rested his forehead against hers, and took a deep breath, her fingers still dancing along his arm. If this moment wasn't perfect, Faye didn't know what was.

Peter glanced down at her as they hugged, and felt himself staring at her, drawn to her for a moment. He let his mind wander over their friendship, the laughs they'd shared, and the adventures they'd gone on. They were his most prized memories, and pictures of memories. Though Faye didn't know it, he had a picture of his mother that he kept in his pocket always, but Faye meant more to him than even that. Her arms felt right around him and before he knew it, he caught himself leaning in toward her slightly. He stopped himself, breaking away nonchalantly but quickly as his heart was beating rather quickly. "So, uh...where should we go now, hun?"
Even as Peter spoke about being single forever, he laughed at the same time as Faye. Both of them needed constant attention and needed to be liked. That was one of the reasons he needed Faye. To be his source of affection when he was single. Not that they kissed or did anything a real couple would do, that would only get someone hurt. "You going to give me that forever, Peter?" Peter considered the question. He would be more than willing to give Faye constant attention forever, if she so wished. He would do anything for her. "If you wanted my attention forever, I'd give it to you. But I'm sure you want the attention of other boys," he said with a chuckled. Faye needed someone more interesting than Peter. More romantically interesting, anyway.
Peter was glad that Faye didn't say anything to counteract his compliments, for he would've rebutted with more compliments and then Faye might think he liked her as more than a friend. Which would just be an embarrassing situation for him. He honestly hadn't asked himself that question yet, nor did he plan on it. When the two were older and in college, maybe, but here they were just going to have fun. That was all he wanted for them at that point. At Faye's laugh Peter smiled and swung his imaginary hair back. "Oh baby...I already am pretty. No one can resist this," he joked, smirking slightly. She was pleased that she thought him pretty, though. He valued Faye's opinion more than anyone else's. He laughed as her fingers moved along his arm, her touch light and warm. "That tickles," he giggled.

She remembered so much from the past three years. Their inside jokes, the time she'd broken her wrist last year and Peter freaked out and ran her to the nurse's office, and told her it'd all be okay, while she cried in his arms. The times guys' dumped her, and Peter would sit with her, drying her eyes until the wee morning. The notes they'd pass in class...and everything about him. He suddenly broke away, and she lost her balance, falling onto the ground. She looked up at him and pouted, upset. "I don't know, Peter. You pick." She got herself up and dusted the dirt off her tiny legs and the back of her shorts.
Peter, like her, required that constant attention. Which was why, together, they were perfect. At this point, damnit, Faye just wanted to kiss him and get it over with. She contemplated this, until he spoke. "Of course I want your attention forever. Why wouldn't I?" She stood on her tip toes, looking up at Peter.
Fine. She would do it. Right now. No...not yet. Because, well, he looked like he was going to say something. He swung his supposed 'hair' back, and Faye laughed. "That's why you've got a fan club running after you all the time." She giggled, hating that fan club even more with every laugh. His laugh followed hers, and she smiled. "That tickles, huh?" She asked, moving that hand up to his cheek. Now standing on her tip-toes, and using her hands, Faye gently pulled Peter down toward her, and did it. Locked her lips with his.
About damn time.

Peter's head was still reeling from how close he'd been to kissing her. He'd just had such an urge. As if that's where gravity had been pulling him. Faye's perfume was swimming in his head and he found it hard to concentrate. His heart was still racing as he tried to sort out his feelings. Faye was his best friend. This wasn't what best friends did, and he knew it. But it would be so natural and...right, it seemed. He was torn from thought as he realized that Faye had fallen. His expression looked worried as she pulled herself up. "Oh my god, are you alright, Faye? I'm sorry I just...I dunno how to explain it...are you hurt?"
Peter cleared his head. He was just having withdraws, he was sure. That's why Faye was having this effect on him. But as he stared down at her, her smile radiating her face, he knew that wasn't it. "Why wouldn't I?" "I dunno...maybe because you could do so much better than me."
Peter smiled as Faye laughed, but internally he was trying to grasp what he had just realized. He was in love with his best friend. Of course, he'd known for years that he loved her, but now he understood that he was genuinely in love. Of course it all made sense to him now. How comfortable he was with her, the way they didn't need words, their constant affection. Only now Peter wanted more. As he thought this, he felt Faye's hand move up to his cheek. The movement caused him to open his eyes, smiling slightly. She looked so determined and he wondered what she was thinking. As she began to pull him closer he started, "Faye what're you--" but he was cut off as Faye's lips met his. He was astonished. Had Faye read his mind? He pulled away slowly, his eyes still closed. "I...you...wow..."

Something about him letting go felt weird. It was so sudden. She had bent over to reach the backs of her legs, and she looked at Peter as she brushed the dirt away, leaving the casual smudge. He began to fuss, and she stood, contemplating what she could say. "Calm down. I'm fine. It's fine. I'm not hurt, but if you wanna check, be my guest. I probably have a bruise, but no biggie." She simply shrugged, trying to look brave. But her arse hurt.
Obviously, something was wrong. And it had to do with something. He looked okay, but she could tell, just from his facials, his eyes, that something was up. "Maybe because you could do so much better than me." She gasped. "Are you even kidding me? I could not do better than you. You're the absolute best. No one is better than you. I promise." The fact that he even thought that amazed her. He was so great...why would he think otherwise?
Kissing Peter was phenominal. It was like, three years of crushing released in one, simple kiss. His lips tasted alright. She'd applied her sugar lip gloss before coming out, so she hoped he liked it. She closed her eyes, and felt herself losing her balance. Thankfully, Peter pulled away, and she stood back on her feet, opening her eyes to look at him. "I...you...wow..." Wow? Was that good or bad? Did he like it, did he feel like that, did he even wanna be like that? Faye was internally freaking out. "Wow? Is that good or bad?" She blinked, staring at him, her blue eyes hoping that it was the former and not the latter.

Peter couldn't believe it. How had he not realized how in love with Faye he was? Now that he thought about it, it seemed so simple. Everyone else had realized it. He wondered if Faye loved him back. For his pride, as well as his sanity, he earnestly hoped she did. There were often times he would catch Faye staring at her, but all he needed to do was make a funny face or stick his tongue out at her and they were back to their playful selves. She assured him that he was fine, but Peter kissed her forehead, pulling her back against his chest and rubbing her back. "I'm sorry, Faye. I forget that I need to be more careful with you," he sighed, rubbing her back continuously. He told himself it was to comfort her, but Peter knew it was just because he needed her back in his arms.
Peter felt so creepy now, he couldn't stop staring at her! The way her eyes lit up when she laughed. The way her lips pursed when she was thinking. How had he gone three whole years without noticing these beautiful things about his best friend? "No one is better than you." Peter blushed furiously at that. The blushing, that was another sign. That should've been the first indicator that he was losing his cool. Did she really think he was the best? His heart raced. "Oh please, I'm not the best. Woody's probably better for you," he stated. He needed to know where he compared to the kind, funny senior. He probably paled in comparison.
Peter couldn't explain kissing Faye. She was so warm against him. It hadn't lasted long, for Peter wasn't sure he take it at the moment. It was so much! He had just admitted to himself his love for Faye, and here they were kissing moments later. Her lips tasted nice, was that sugar he detected? He was eager to kiss her again, but she spoke. "Is that good or bad?" Peter couldn't help it, a laugh escaped from his lips. He opened his eyes and found those gorgeous blue orbs of Faye's staring back at him. "Well, let's see if this answers your question," he breathed against her lips. He held Faye's face gently in his hands, leaning forward and pressing his lips against hers once more.

Did he like her? Did he not? Oh god, Faye couldn't take it. He was so perfect, and she was just a mess. She was constantly jealous, over protective, angry, vengeful...but she was loyal and silly and sweet and pretty too. She was somewhere between bad and good. Peter had to like in between right? He just had to. Suddenly, he was kissing her forehead, and pulling her into a hug, rubbing her back. He apologized, and make a comment about being careful. "It's fine, really. And you don't have to be careful. I'm not like...glass or something." She looked up at him, soaking up every second she was in his arms.
She couldn't pull her eyes away from him. His eyes, his adorable lips, his ears, his nose, his hair...He was absolutely perfect. And then he blushed again and Faye smiled. He was adorable when he blushed. And he was the best, the cause of his blush. Her honesty. And then he brought up Woody. "Are you kidding? Woody's my friend. I flirt with him because...he's there. He knows I like you and that we'll always be friends, but he gives me attention when you're not around." She nodded simply.
Peter laughed. She raised a brow. His eyes opened, and Faye's mouth twisted into a smile. This? What this? What....oh. He kissed her. That this. Oh boy. That answered her question. He liked her! He...loved her? Well, he felt what she did and that was all that really mattered at this point. She kissed him back, only to be the one who pulled away. "That definitely answered my question." She giggled, leaning into him. "I really like you, Peter. I have since we met, three years ago." Faye looked up when she said this, making sure they made eye contact.
