For most people, the end of summer and the beginning of school weren’t exactly the best time. But for others, like Clarissa, it was actually a happy time she’d been waiting for for a while. From the moment school let out for the summer, Clary found herself missing the school and her friends. Sure, they kept in touch during the time they were away through phone calls and text messages, some even sent postcards and letters if they went on vacation, but it just wasn’t the same as talking to the face to face. Very rarely did she get to see anyone during vacation. She was usually off somewhere, at a party or another event, acting like the perfect little Lady everyone expected her to be. She was, in almost totality, this person that everyone saw, but sometimes she just wanted to be able to be with her friends watching movies and talking about nothing, instead of being stuck inside with people twice her age trying to make interesting conversation. During such conversations, Clarissa would often wonder what everyone was up to, instead of listening like she should have been.
Which was why, upon her arrival back to the school, she knew she had to devise a plan to get caught up with everyone’s lives, and quickly. She hated being kept out of the loop and not knowing certain things that she felt like she should. Thus, she approached Emily Swann, her roommate extraordinaire and best friend, to help her think up a way to get everyone they knew together. At first, it started as a small get together in their room, but as word spread and people began to ask Clary about the supposed ‘slumber party’ promptly inviting themselves, she couldn’t say no, and soon the entire thing spiralled out of control, encompassing students from every house and needing more space than just the girls’ room. They convinced the dean to let them use the student lounge for the night, considering it was a Saturday night, the first Saturday back at school, and the students needed a little celebration.
For the past week or so, Clarissa had spent an insurmountable amount of time organizing, trying to make sure everything would go smoothly and that nothing would go wrong. Emily and she had made lists of movies, music, food, everything they needed and divided up the tasks to be done. Clary had been put on movies and music, seeing as she didn’t exactly like junk food, but would let herself indulge for this one night. Yesterday morning, copies of movies that hadn’t yet been released on DVD arrived at the school, courtesy of Clary’s credit card, and a few connections in Hollywood. She had gotten a list together of everyone’s favourite music, and even suggested that some people bring their ipods and docks to help out. Her laptop was already set up in the lounge, itunes open, ready to download any song that anyone could want.
Looking around the lounge, Clary nodded to herself. Everything was ready. The music was already on, the gaming systems were fired up in the gaming room, the movies splayed out in front of the large tv... A smile graced her lips as she pulled out her own personal touch out of her overnight bag. Candy à la Disney Princess, much to her amusement. Her fingers flew across the keys on her phone, sending out a mass text message to everyone. The party was on. Now, she thought as she fell back on the nearest couch with a handful of popcorn, all she had to do was wait.

Many people dreaded the start of school, as did Emily in regards to certain aspects of school life. For example, school meant homework and Emily wasn't too fond of that idea. She'd much rather hang out with friends and have adventures. Still the class work was preferred over some of the summer evenings experienced by Miss Swann. Over the summer Emily felt scrutinized, like she always had to be the proper young lady she was raised to be. It was expected of her to be as close to perfection as she could be, and she couldn't disappoint. She was always beautifully dressed for the galas, and had an air of sophistication about her. She didn't mind conversing with adults because she could keep up and wasn't talked down upon, but she much preferred talking with her friends. It was difficult over the summer because everyone was busy, and texting just wasn't the same as slumber parties.
Slumber parties were one of Emily's favourite parts of boarding school. Her roommate, Clarissa, was one of her best friends and they got along great most days. Naturally, it was difficult to room with a friend because there were some days when they just couldn't fall asleep because they were talking to much. Okay, so that wasn't exactly difficult more just distracting. This normally only happened on weekends, and those were some of the best nights at J. Cricket Academy. Those nights would escalate from casual conversations, to movie nights and even once or twice an all-nighter. Friends were a large part of the charm of the academy. Emily found it amazing that there were all of these spirits in one place, and that they could all interact and (mostly) get along with one another. Sometimes she wondered where she'd be if she didn't come to J. Cricket Academy and meet so many great people. One thing was for sure, she wouldn't have such a great Saturday night to look forward to.
The idea was a simple one at first, offered by Clary: invite a few friends for a slumber party in their dorm and welcome the school year with open arms. Well, it was more like to catch up with friends than welcoming the "school" bit. Somehow it seemed to grow and grow until the location was changed to the lounge. It was actually a better idea because then the game room would be of service. It was a good thing that both girls were friendly as well, because many people who had caught word had invited themselves. The more the merrier was the way Emily viewed the situation. This meant more things needed to be planned. Thankfully, Clarissa covered the part that would be Emily's downfall - technological entertainment. Emily could rattle off wonderful movies for the list, but as for music, her taste was very varied and not many people agreed with her favourite choices. So Emily was in charge of the junk food and other goodies; her forte. For a tall, thin girl, she was definately a bottomless pit. Earlier in the day she "snuck" into the kitchen and in the dumbwaiter sent goodies to the dining room which she later stashed away in the lounge.
With all the sleepover necessities under her arm, she bounced brightly into the lounge shortly after Clary had arrived. "Hello there," she smiled, and then went to the secret location of the food, and revealed the yummy arrangement. There was a mound of unopened candy that would be poured into bowls when the time came. There was also a line of soda cans. There was also popcorn, and a covered plate of cookies, mini cupcakes, and chocolate covered strawberries. The sweet platter with these goods was added later in the day to ensure freshness. "Are you ready for an amazing night?" With a grin she opened one of the bags of candy - a package of gummy worms, and chose one blindly, joy filling her as she bit into it.

Daintily, Clarissa popped one small piece of popcorn in her mouth and her delicate features visibly distorted into a grimace. She had never been one for junk food and treats, though she enjoyed her fine pastries now and again. From early on she knew that she would have to watch what she ate to stay small and fit. Her parents had once conned her into believing that eating all of her vegetables would help her grow big and strong; quite the flop that was. Now, standing at barely five feet and weighing under the recommended weight for her height, she had discovered the truth and wasn’t going to eat any vegetables she didn’t like. Likewise with the treats everyone else did. After abstaining from them for so long, she just hadn’t acquired the taste or liking for them. Even the popcorn in her hand, of the light variety, felt greasy and disgusting. Surprising as it was, she just didn’t like it. Well, she might, but her mind was so used to rejecting the fact that it probably automatically dismissed any sort of unhealthy food as something that she didn’t like, like a defence mechanism that she had formed to protect herself from gaining weight. Unlike most girls, she didn’t particularly care about whether or not she looked good, yes she liked to look presentable and wearing nice clothes, her appearance had never been at the top of her list of priorities, it was somewhere near the middle. Her preoccupation with her weight had nothing to do with how good she looked in shorts or a crop-top, but much more with her only real hobby, and talent.
With a soft sigh from her full lips, Clary let the popcorn fall out of her hand and back into the bowl. If she wasn’t going to eat and enjoy it, she wouldn’t stop someone else from indulging. The party hadn’t even started yet and she already knew that she’d have to make a trip to the kitchen to get something to eat for herself. Emily had taken upon the task of bringing the food and drink, but she tended to lean more toward the side of the food spectrum that Larissa didn’t care for. That girl ate everything, and a lot of everything. Clary was only slightly jealous that Emily could eat whatever she wanted and stay tall and thin, while Clary liked her food just as much, she had to watch what she ate and the amount, less she gorge herself to the brim and put on a few unnecessary pounds. She couldn’t break the habit, even for one night. At least she was a generally friendly, open person, that would be a harder personality trait to break for a party. A slumber party no less.
The amount of enthusiasm that the school had for this party was incredible. Her inbox on her phone was being flooded with replies about what people were bringing, even though they had been told it wasn’t necessary, games they wanted to try out, and just general excitement. Clary couldn’t contain her happiness, and grinned from ear to ear as she replied to them all, one by one. Nothing made Clary happier than knowing that she had done something to make someone’s else’s day a little brighter, and the vibe she was getting, even from a few of the Atrox house, was like a high for her. So she wasn’t going to get to pig out and have a sugar rush like everyone else, she’d have her own rush.
“Evening Emily,” she greeted through a small fit of giggles, raising her eyes from her phone to watch her friend pull out all of her supplies, eyeing the strawberries in particular. Maybe she’d get to pig out a small bit. Chocolate covered strawberries weren’t all bad, were they? They had strawberries, those were fruit... her internal conflict continued on as she listened to Emily again. “It’s going to be ace!” she exclaimed with a laugh. Anything that involved tons of people and fun was great on her part. Ever so casually, she pulled out her planner, and went through the checklist of everything. “We’re all set. Now all we need are people,” she added with a goofy smile.

As Emily savoured the chewy sweetness, she watched her petite friend. Emily was a good six inches taller than her, at least, and probably had 25 or so pounds on her as well. She watched Clary begin to much on some popcorn, and then seem to regret the small choice as she put it back. Emily felt slightly bad because she knew that her friend watched what she ate and didn't care much for junkfood, yet it hadn't dawned on her until now. When she was in the kitchen and collecting packages of candy from a few friends' trunks, all though of Clarissa's taste buds were gone and she was focusing on the task before her. Supplying food for a fun night, and for her that meant sweets and junk food strictly. Maybe she'd run off in a little while and pull out some healthier choices for her friend. The tiny voice in her mind tried to console her by saying that she had supplied some sort of healthy food - strawberries. Granted, they were covered in chocolate, but having been refrigerated all day, the chocolate coating could be cracked off easily. That was the only way she could ease the louder voices in her mind criticising her for being so narrow minded.
Emily couldn't help herself, however. Despite how bad she felt for not providing more for her friend, she couldn't control her sweet tooth's power. She plopped down in one of the large leather armchairs with an exaggerated sigh as though her day of hunting for food and helping with preparations was so trying. Then she reached over and just picked up the whole bag of gummy worms. The night hadn't even started yet and she was already hellbent on enjoying as many gummies as possible before other teenage vultures came and took away her joy. Okay, so maybe Emily could be slightly selfish and maybe a little territorial - but gummies were her favourite means of rotting her teeth and getting a sugar rush. It wasn't as though she really had to try to watch her weight or anything because she had a speedy motabolism, so for that reason she allowed herself to be slightly selfish with her gummies. The rest of the party could indulge in whatever goodies they wanted so long as Emily could get her gummies and had access to the soda stash. That was the Emily would function for the rest of the evening.
For all Emily cared the people never had to show up, but that thought was only in her mind because she was in a comfortable chair with her feet up on an ottoman and a bag of gummy worms in her hand. When Clary spoke, all thoughts of what fun the evening would bring came back to her and a whole new wave of excitement flooded the girl. She perked up a bit and nodded enthusiastically, "If they don't come along soon there won't be anything left and we'll just have to party without them." Emily thought about what that would be like to have a two person party. They've done that before in their dorm and it was still great fun. It was a sad thought though, to think of so much party planning gone to waste - Emily knew it wouldn't though. Throughout the day she had recieved multiple texts regarding the night's event. Emily could sense the excitement rippling through the castle because the time had come.
NOTE: since people are starting to join, we should probably try for a loose posting order, yeah?

Aurora really wished that she was back at home as the building loomed in front of her. School meant concentration, work and lots of people to make sure she didn’t either collide with or forget to answer should she drift off into her own little dream world. She sighed, looking at her three aunts wistfully as they waved her goodbye before stepping into the school. Her shoes echoed on the floor as she headed across the hall towards the stairs that would lead her up to her room. She looked around at all the pictures on the walls, wishing that she didn’t have to stay here and wishing it was still summer. She knew she was going to miss being able to go outside whenever she felt like it and she knew she was going to miss her family ever so much. She had always hated the start of term, but once she had gotten over the first few days, she tended to just settle in quickly.
Stepping up the steps and into her dorm room, she placed her bag down on her bed, surveying the room around her. Her room mates had already settled in, it appeared. Pictures, posters, clothes, jewellery, everything was all set up and Aurora’s side of the room was completely clear. She opened her bag and pulled out the paper on top and attached some blu tack to the corners, sticking it above her bed. Her name, Rose, painted in her own hand with flowers painted all around the edge. She smoothed it down on the wall, smiling absent-mindedly to herself before remembering why there was no one in the dorm. They were meant to be having a huge sleepover where everyone was invited.
She pulled her shoes off and pulled her hair up into a bun, tilting her head at herself as she looked in the mirror. She smiled to herself before turning her attention to her phone that had buzzed. She picked it up, looking at the text on her screen. The sleepover was on now. She picked up her blanket, wrapping it around her shoulders and stepped back into the hall, letting her bare feet hit the floor lightly as she made her way over to the lounge. She pushed open the door, the hinges creaking slightly and shut it behind her. She lifted her head up and smiled at the two girls sat already in the room. “Hi guys,” she said airily, walking over to a nearby sofa and sitting down, pulling the blanket over her legs. “How was your summer?” She brushed a loose strand of hair out of her face. The start of school tended to be the one time she actually focused on what was going on.

As Megan made her way through the castle she glanced at the map in her hand. One year at the school and she still got lost. She sighed, exasperated as her strappy sandal fell off once more, leaning her back against the wall as she pulled it back on. Her outfit was a perpetual blend of winter and summer, for she was still undecided about which was her favorite. Her shirt, adorning an homage to the Beatles, was accompanied by a deep purple cardigan. The two were paired with a pair of dark skinny-jeans that were ripped slightly near the knees and on her thigh. And then of course came her sandals. There was hardly a day that went by where Meg was not wearing some sort of sandal, and the ones she wore today were a gold color that should've clashed with the rest of her outfit, though she somehow made it work.
Once she'd fixed her wardrobe malfunction she brushed her long, dark hair from her face, reevaluating where she actually was in the castle. She glanced down at her map, then back up and smiled slightly, finding she was exactly where she needed to be. She opened the large door and entered the room, taking in the sight before her. There seemed to be ample supplies for a raging party. Movies, music, and a tempting snack table that Megan made a mental note to visit quickly. As for those in attendance, there were only three girls currently. A small, dainty looking brunette, a taller girl with striking features, and a blonde with bright eyes. Meg suddenly felt self-conscious, though sucked in a deep breath to hide her insecurities. She'd vowed to herself never to let anyone see her weaknesses, however many there may be.
After regaining her composure, Megan grinned crookedly, her trademark smile when she met someone new. "Well hello ladies," she said, her voice filled with a mix of charm and nerves. She wasn't sure why she was trying so hard, it wasn't normal for her. However, she wanted people to like her even if she didn't act like it. She sauntered over to the snack table, picking up a chocolate strawberry with her long fingers and biting into it. She licked her lips to clear them of any chocolate debris and chewed before she swallowed. " I'm Megan," she said with a wider smile, tossing the inedible part of the strawberry in the trash and resting her hands on her hips, jutting her hip out slightly as she waited for a response.

Resting in her dorm room she had awoken from a nap. It had been a long day of studying and reading for her midterms and what not. Adriana sat up in bed and went into the hallway and walked passed the lounge room. Peering in there she noticed others were in there as well. A smile was upon her face as she entered the room. "Well, so here's were you are all hiding" she said folding her arms across her chest smiling softly.
Adriana was also leaning on the doorframe of the lounge. She looked around her surroundings as she did so and looked back at the girls on the floor. Who were talking. Still leaning on the door she smiled softly and just listened on the conversations for a while. These girls seemed nice and she hoped that she'd make more friends here.
Her eyes examined around the area as she looked around her surroundings more. There was a TV, A Refrigerator and many couches. Adriana then moved in and leaned on the wall as she listened to them and said "I hope you don't mind on me coming?" she questioned them. Hoping they didn't mind her coming to the party. Knowing it was a all girl thing and public and for the girls of the dorm room. Then she said "I am Adriana" she said softly looking around.
As she leaned back on her palms she crossed her legs and watched everyone else. Then looked out the window then back at them. They all seemed very nice. Even though she had a few friends here, she didn't have that many but she hoped she'd meet some.

"It's not crashing a party if you were invited," Eloise explained. Okay, so maybe she wasn't technically invited, but a lot of people weren't technically invited. The way that the invitation had been passed along was very informal. People invited people who invited people. News of the slumber party in the main castle lounge was spread by text, personal invitation, and word of tongue. Eloise had been invited by somebody else... who had been invited by somebody else... who had been invited by... Well, that's just something she would find out later that evening. She didn't know who the official hosts of the slumber party were, but even if it was somebody she hated it was too embarressing to show up and leave than to be one of the few who just wouldn't show up after being invited; that just wasn't how Eloise worked. Still, in case it turned out to be a major flop, she decided to bring along her guitar so that she could have an excuse to be alone in the corner. Then, if it turned out other people were leaving, she could leave as well. Either way, her guitar was like a comfort to her, and it was something that she felt could maybe liven up the party. Perhaps it could bring people together. Ha, they were all Regius students that were directly invited so they didn't need any bringing together. Well, it was nice to hope.
The party was in the main castle's lounge so anyone had access to it, including the Atrox student. With her guitar safely in it's case, firmly held in Ellie's hand, she was ready. Her other sleepover necessities were under her other arm. Her blonde curls were in a ponytail so her bright eyes could see clearly. The barcode tattoo behind her ear could be seen when her hair was back, and she was proud of it (she just didn't want to get it anywhere she'd regret). She wore flannel pajama pants and a tank top. On her feet were her favourite slippers. If she was going to be emotionally uncomfortable, than she might as well be physically comfortable. But she wouldn't be uncomfortable; she had decided that when she left her suite. She would have a grand time and prove to people that there could be more to her than what they thought.
With her head held high, she entered the lounge. There was a lovely display of snacks and a group of girls. Two of whom Ellie recognized as Juniors and nothing more. The other girls must've been underclassmen because Ellie didn't have any idea who they were. She was there in time to catch one girl's introduction. Adriana. Ellie then thought hard about the two Juniors' names. One was... Oh, she recognized her from some fancy TV broadcast on the flight to school, what was her name? Her last name was like an animal. Ah, Swann. Something Swann. Oh right, Emily! The other girl also looked familiar. Maybe from the same channel of European news? Yeah, it was something long and fancy to match her status. Charlotte? Claire? Something with a C. Ah, Clarissa! Clarissa Something. That's all that mattered was the first name and Ellie was content with that. The other girl two girls meant nothing to Eloise without a first name. Figuring it best to get that bit of information out of them, Eloise offered her introduction, "I'm Eloise." And that was that.

Clary was getting fidgety, and it was never good when she started to fidget. Her hands came up to brush her hair away from her face, two at a time, while her ankles started to twirl in circles of their own accord. She couldn’t count how many times her mother had told her that her little habit of rapid, unnecessary movements were unladylike, and she had honestly tried her best to stop them as much as she could, but as she grew more and more impatient, she started to fidget more and more. “I do hope they come soon!” she said, curling and uncurling her toes inside of her bright pink slippers. “As much fun as it would be just the two of us, it seems like this would all go to waste.” One more thing she detested, things going to waste. That was a lesson she had been taught as a child, and actually stuck to her. She never took what she had for granted, and thanked her parents, whatever god there was, and the world for giving her what she had. Wasting away things while others had nothing was the worst kind of hypocrisy in her eyes.
“Rose!” she exclaimed once the shuffling feet she had been hearing entered the lounge. Clary bounced up immediately, glad for another source of attention and entertainment. It had been an entire summer since she’d seen her other roommate, so she could barely contain her excitement, even after seeing her for the past week. It would take a month or so for the newness and excitement to wear down for her, though it would always be there. “My summer was wonderful,” she replied, though it was only half true. A portion of her summer had gone by very well, but when her parents dropped the bomb, she couldn’t help but feel her mood go downhill. She didn’t want another child in the family. Weren’t they happy with her as she was? Maybe they were hoping that this child wouldn’t be some freak reincarnation of an animated dog. “How was yours, love?” she asked in return.
Slowly but surely, more people came flowing in, in a small trickle. It usually began like this, it would start slowly, but steadily pick up with more and more students joining as the night went on. Clary found herself recognizing the face of the next person to join them, but couldn’t for the life of her place a name. She was grateful when the girl introduced herself, taking it up as one of responsibilities to introduce herself and the other girls to the new one. “I’m Clarissa, but you may call me Clary,” she greeted, sticking out her hand for the girl. “And this is Emily,” she motioned to her best friend. “And our other roommate Rose. Pleased to meet you,” she smiled brightly, abnormally happy that more people were beginning to join the festivities. As much as she’d dislike to admit, Clarissa did have a small problem with attention, and liked to have a bit of it. She wasn’t excessive, but the more people around meant the more people that she could talk to.
“We weren’t hiding, honest. You’re more than welcome to join us! It’s nice to make your acquaintance Adriana, I’m Clary.” Even at school the manners ingrained into her mind didn’t leave, and she remained, and would remain, the perfect hostess throughout the evening. She knew it was best to leave them to their own devices, and snatched up the remote for the ipod dock she had connected to the surround sound. She flicked it on, and put it on shuffle, letting the music play ambiently in the background. “Hi there Eloise,” already knowing who the girl was before she even introduced herself. Clary hardly ever forgot faces, somethings were a completely different story. Tonight, she was going to test her ability to get to know people well in a short period of time. her thin fingers raised a chocolate covered strawberry to her full, pink lips, as she curled her feet under her on the couch, trying to determine her course of action for the night.

back to school, those were probably cassie's three favorite words ever. sure most people thought that she was weird since she loved school so much but the way she saw it, the sooner she graduated the closer she was to getting her dream. she should have been in her dorm unpacking her bags so that she would be all set for when school started. cassie was the kind of girl that normally skipped any of the fun welcome back to school activities, but since it was her senior year she figured that she would go out a little bit so that she would be able to remember her last year of high school. after all, most of the movies that she watched showed that senior year was always the one to remember. so instead of staying in her room all night she figured that she would go out and have some fun of once. slipping into her favorite pjs, slippers and robe she packed up a bag with some goodies and her sketchbook and phone. apparently there was some big slumber party going on tonight. cassie had heard her roommates talking about it earlier in the day when the two girls had been running around trying to get themselves ready for it.
grabbing her bag she managed to sneak downstairs into the school kitchen and made a good decent amount of cupcakes that she had been planning to take with her to the party. technically she really didn't have to sneak into the kitchen. she had made friends with the kitchen staff and was always in there either way just because she simply loved cooking. she was part of the reason why the food around school was so delicious. grabbing the cupcakes that she had made she adjusted her bag on her shoulder and was on her way to the student lounge. cassie really didn't know many people around j cricket, probably due to the fact that she was always either locked in her dorm room studying or because she just didn't like many people around her. but the few friends that she did have were probably the most amazing people that she knew. hopefully her roommates wouldn't be the only people she knew at the party. walking into the lounge cassie felt really socially awkward. she didn't really hang around with many of the students at j cricket but when she spotted her roommate megan she breathed a sigh of relief. at least there was one friendly face that she could recognize.
taking a deep breath she walked into the room and stood tall with a smile on her face. she was determined to make it through the night. cassie loved everything about her life just the way it was but she was ready to turn over a new leaf and try to get out of her shell, even if it was just for one night. no one had taken notice of her yet so she went over and left the cupcakes with the other goodies that had been brought into the room for the night. brushing her hair out of her face she adjusted her bag on her shoulder and took another deep breath. "evening ladies. my name's cassie." she was pretty nervous considering that she really didn't know any of the girls in the room, except for her roommate megan and even still cassie didn't even know her all that well. tonight would either be an epic success of an epic failure and honestly, cassie was hoping it would be an epic success.
