happiness; like a flame, is short lived and dwindles when smothered by darkness and cowardice.
Reegan from childhood was different - strongly endowed with her impeccable academic skills, and effortlessly confidant in herself. She lived life free, honest and simple without the bar of standards held over her head by anyone other than herself. Her parents, Angela and Lester Thompson raised her with relative care and provided her with a generous lifestyle where money was never tight, and all her basic needs were provided for her. She was an only child, birthed on a quiet march day in the local hospital. It was a quick birth, but complications with Angela's health limited her from having anymore children afterwords. So naturally, sibling rivalry and competition for her parents attention was never an issue that needed to be addressed. Her home life was pleasant and fortunate and she would never doubt or deny it. But as her high school years rolled around, things began to change and complications with her mothers health worsened to the point where she was hospitalized. For the majority of her early high school years, she spent her time with her mother in the hospital and this continued for a time period of two consecutive years until finally, during Reegan's final year, her mother passed away.
After she finished high school, her father moved her from her home in Nottingham to London, England, where he had accepted a job promotion to balance out the lack of a second income. Here, Reegan attended a local university in attempt to pursue a career in education - while visibly struggling to get over her mothers death. Her father struggled as well, eventually turning to alcohol and other substances to escape the daily pain that came with losing the love of his life to the hands of death. Eventually, it came to a point where he lost his job and could no longer provide for either of them. After two year of trying to help him - with the remaining funds that they had, he spiraled further out of control. Absent of hope at this point, Reegan moved out, taking up a job and renting out a place. From there, she did what she could for her father, but only to an extent that didn't take from the life she was trying to built for herself. She wanted to be strong, and she knew that this was the only reason she could be.
Eventually, things got better for her, even as her father stayed relatively in the same place. She moved up further in her education and eventually met a wonderful man to whom she eventually wed, by the name of Julian Cross. He was a music student, with a future set for him. He was good, exceptional, amazing even, at what he did and Reegan fell hard for him, for his music and everything about him. After they both graduated from their separate universities, they moved in together taking up jobs with good pay and both in their line of educational pursuit. Reegan had taken up a position on the school board, working not only to improve schooling conditions, but teaching conditions as well. On part, she also taught at a local school to better her experience with the system. He life, in short had rebuilt itself, and she found genuine happiness again, even as her father eventually passed away of an overdoes in the following years.
It was in these same years that she and Julian formally wed in a beautiful cathedral. Shortly after, they gave birth to a child, whom they named Solomon Alexander Cross. For many years their happiness continued, and life was as easy as it had been when Reegan was a child. They were wealthy and lived a high life. She loved her child and her husband and did everything she could to keep them happy - and she truly believed that they were going to live that way the rest of her life, even as she earned a place as a headmistress at a school in Ireland, even as he finally achieved his goals in becoming a famous musician. He traveled where he had to, but Julian always came home for holidays, always insisted on being with his family. But a dark underlining secret bubbled to the surface and Reegan discovered that he happy life was only a mirage. Julian had cheated on her, not once, but twice and on two separate occasions. She was utterly heartbroken and almost thought to take her own life - but she still had her son, her beautiful little boy. And as the divorce papers were finalized, it became apparent that she was under full custody as a result of Julian's traveling career.
But, she was never able to properly get over the pain and eventually lost contact with her emotional spectrum. She grew cold and bitter and lost the warmth she used to have. This became particularly predominant with her son, as each year that he grew, she saw more and more of Julian in him. Affection was lost and she could no longer hug her son without wanting to crumble, she could no longer listen to his music, ruffle his hair, even talk to him normally. It only became worse as he started attending Kostine. She grew distant with everyone and became more and more absorbed in her work, losing tact with any social life she had before. Her former life had formally been cast aside and she has yet to face the pain she so cowardly fled from.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
