Didier wasn't much of a swimmer. In fact, he hated swimming, and water, as a general rule. However, the beach was a draw despite that. It had everything else that Gaston loved, you see. Nearly naked women, sun, sport, and in this case, food that was definitely not good for his toned body. But the summer, for the football player, was drawing to a close, and so he was going to spend his last days making the best of his time; by ogling and being ogled. In doing so, he donned a pair of black swim trunks (despite having no intention of touching that death trap people called water) and headed out to the beach, volleyball tucked under his arm.
He walked there, rather than driving his motorcycle, since he had every intention on having some sort of fried food later in the day. When he arrived, he quickly gathered up a group of cheerleaders and other athletes to play some volleyball with him. After splitting into two teams (both co-ed, to be fair) they began to play. It was a rather intense game, in terms of volleying, passing, spiking and serving, but it was still fun, and there were a lot of laughs had (mostly because Didier's team was winning. He was a poor loser, after all) until one of the guys on the opposite team spiked the ball and it flew down the beach a ways.
Volunteering to get it, since it landed at the feet of a beautiful girl, Didier jogged along the beach to where the ball sat, stopping just short of the woman behind it. "Sorry about that. Did we hit you?" He asked, laying on the charm. After all, he didn't actually care.

you should know me well enough TO KNOW I'M FLYING , EVIE was actually thankful that summer was near an end. It sounded pyschotic, and it was in a way. She loved summer, she truly did, but it just gave her step family time to walk all over it which caused her to drag her feet. When she was out of the house, she was happy. She enjoyed the feeling of being her own person and doing things for herself. These times were sparse however, and they usually meant that her phone would constantly be buzzing with demands. 'Remember, Effie, do this when you get home, and don't forget to pick up mother's dry cleaning, on your way there make sure to drop by the hair salon and make me an appointment at three - so move yours to five or something.' It was all very exhausting. It wasn't as if Evie didn't have any backbone to stand up for herself, but she just couldn't do it anymore. She had tried time and time again to rise above Clarissa and her two daughter-minions. It never seemed to work; they just kept shutting her down. For a twenty-one year old, that was a difficult thing to admit to others.
TODAY Evie was very glad to have followed the demands of the previous day because she had successfully booked appointments for all of her family. Clarissa had a pedicure, facial, and work (it's a miracle the lady could lift a finger for herself). Amelia and her sister, Rosaline, had manicures, massages, and hair appointments. Then they were going shopping. Naturally. Ugh, that was perhaps one fo the most frustrating things about her 'family'. They ate through her father's money, and it was a miracle there was anything left to live off of. Evie worked for her money though and today was her day off. No working for her 'family' no working for herself, just a nice relaxing day, and she would spend it at the beach.
SHE had been tanning, but soon couldn't take the heat so directed on her the bare skin that her bikini didn't cover up. So instead she stood up and collected her blonde curls into a ponytail and pulled her sunglasses down from their resting place on top of her head. She let out a sigh that had pleasure swimming in it. It felt so good to relax. There were no buzzing texts, no obnoxious phone calls, just the nice weather and - a nudge. She looked down and determined the source was the volleyball that had rolled over from the seemingly-intense game of beach volleyball underway. Attached to the ball came a voice belonging to a young man that seemed somewhat familiar. He was definately from the college, that she knew, and she was certain he had to have made a big name for himself. He carried himself in that way. When he spoke Evie looked beyond him slightly to see the group of people he had come from. Yes, he definately had a name for himself. Evie recognized a few cheerleaders, and could tell by the mens' builds that they knew sports.
"NO," she told the boy (whom she remembered to be a football player), "no you didn't. It's alright." The slight bump from the ball wasn't really a hit, it was simply making it's presence known in a subtle way. She gave the boy a smile and bent for the volleyball which she then handed off to him.

Didier would have paid good money to be on the other side of her when she bent to retrieve that ball. Her suit didn't seem to cover much, and watching her bend would have really been a treat. As it was, he didn't let her see that he was ogling her, instead taking the ball and tossing it lazily back towards the game. "As long as you're alright." He said with a small smile. "I'm Didier, but most just call me Gaston" He offered, holding out his hand, to shake or kiss hers.
He had always preferred brunettes to blonds, but she was pretty in the most traditional sense; long, flowing hair, a tight, toned little body, a petite stature, and a face that could stop traffic it was so pretty. So while she wasn't exactly his 'type', she was perfectly good to flirt with, and perhaps more, if it came down to it. "Did you want to join us?" He asked, politely. He would love to see her jump and bounce with a Volleyball, if it was an option, "Or, at least let me buy you lunch... since we interrupted your serenity."

you should know me well enough TO KNOW I'M FLYING , GASTON... The name sounded oddly familar; perhaps it should have been since Evie knew that he was on the football team, but it was more than that. It made her think that maybe there was more to it. Then it dawned on her! It was like that old Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast. The arrogant arse's name was Gaston, and he got under Evelyn's skin. That was the point of his character, to help the leads win the audiences heart. For a moment Evie thought that she should be weary of him, but she decided judgements so early on were unecessary, especially when they were only supported by a silly connection.
"I'M Evelyn," she introduced herself with a smile. She could see the volleyball slowly reach the volleyball players. One of the girls picked it up and shaded her eyes to see what was going on with Didier and Evelyn. Evie didn't pay much attention because no sooner had the girl realized it was just conversation, that she turned back to the game. She extended her hand into his to complete the greeting, "but most call me Evie."
THE offer to play volleyball with them was a nice one, but she shook her head, "no thank you." It'd be an embaressment, really. She couldn't play volleyball, even though she was fairly tall. She wasn't a very athletic girl. She was more of a runner and personal gym work out kind of girl. When it came to athletic ability and grace, there was very little. She didn't want to embaress herself like that - not to mention she didn't know any of the people playing. Evie wasn't the most outgoing of girls unless she was with one of her friends and was comfortable. In fact, she could be quite shy in first introductions and she was bad at small talk. She just needed something to get her going, a little push. His lunch offer seemed like a fair enough one. She gave him a smile and told, "lunch would be nice, and then maybe I'll work up the guts for volleyball." Maybe was the key word. If he really decided he wanted to play, but wouldn't unless she played, she would play after a little convincing.
