&& TELL ME THINGS LIKE i can't take my eyes off of you IT'D be a complete lie to say that Evie no longer became nervous as she set up for her weekly performance at Lucinda's Corner. She had been a regular for years and had played there nearly as often as she visited. Despite the familiar faces of the cafe crowd, she still got the jitters. She always played new music, except for maybe an old "hit" of hers every once in a while, and she never knew how the crowd would take it. They were normally warm and supporting and the new visitors were respectful. There really wasn't a nicer crowd that Evie could think of as she straightened the mic to the proper level. Scanning the scene as she settled down on the stool, she felt like she should be searching for a face out there, but then she felt silly for the thought.
EVELYN took a deep breath as she pulled her hair to one side and balanced her guitar comfortably on her knee. She plucked a few strings to make sure the guitar was still in tune (although she had checked moments before). This got everybody's attention since this time around the amp was turned on at a reasonable level. "Hi everybody," she said with a smile and a little wave to some of the faces she knew. "It's nice to see all of you, I hope you're having a good night. This first song in my set tonight..." And she went off for about a minute giving a short explanation of the song, what it was like writing it, why, and what it truly meant to her. "I hope you like it." It went like this for the next two songs as well only there was less of a summary since the songs were more straight forward. The introduction of the songs were followed by her voice and guitar playing. It was definately something she was comfortable with, and it was easy to see.
"NOW normally my set ends at three," she took another deep breath - her nerves really piling up for the next song, "but today I wrote a new song and I don't want to wait until next time to play it." Her bright blue eyes scanned the crowd again. This time she knew who she was looking for. "This song... It's about the idea of love at first sight... I think - I hope you all enjoy it. Oh, and forgive me for any mistakes; I've only played it a few times earlier." She started with a simple, soft, down-strum chord. From there she picked a few notes, strummed a few chords, hummed a few notes, sang a few words. It sounded beautiful, whimsical like a magical fairytale. Her eyes had gone back to surveying the room. A few lines actually made her blush and look to the ground with a little bit of a smile threatening to stretch itself. Miraculously, she made it through without a single mistake. When the final chord had faded...

forever can never be long enough for me To feel like I’ve had long enough with you. Usually guys in college weren’t exactly what you called “hopeless romantics,” but that was precisely what Beau King was. He was a firm believer in true love, and he just knew that the right girl was out there…somewhere. Hopefully somewhere on campus. The problem was that he had yet to find her, despite being here for nearly his third year now. He wondered how things would’ve gone if he had attended Princeton or Harvard or Yale instead. Would she be waiting there for him now? Would he, perhaps, be engaged already? And if he didn’t find her soon, would it be too late? Surely his “princess” would be able to entice another man, whoever she was. And surely that lucky soul would claim her as soon as he saw her.
There had been a girl, just a few days ago it seemed; he had bumped into her, not looking where he was going…he had looked up, he had seen her, he had apologized mindlessly, but he had been struck by her beauty, her poise. He had only heard her voie for a moment and had had neither the nerve nor the time to ask who she was, nor to introduce herself. But she had lingered in the back of his mind since that day. He had actually come to get a drink (though he was hardly an alcoholic and usually steered clear of drinking period) to get her out of his head. But he had come in in the midst of something that seemed like a regular event–no surprise that he didn’t know about it then…
But it was her. The girl. That beautiful girl. Beau simply stared. She was the one performing, and he wondered if it had been fate that had insisted he take his mind off things. Well, of course. She looked about his age, didn’t she? Maybe she was a student…maybe she was in his class, at that. Beau didn’t even bother ordering a drink. He was too distracted now, anyway. She was speaking in her lovely voice, and he prayed she’d never stop. He could barely hear what she was saying, really. Something about love at first sight. Well, he was a believer in that too…and while he may not jump the gun and call this love, he couldn’t remember ever really looking at a girl the way he was now looking at her. He wished he had some kind of name to put to her face, her beautiful face, the one that had been haunting him like a persistent ghost…
When she was done with her song, it again took Beau a few moments to get his head out of the clouds and begin to applaud for her. He was too busy simply staring. His mother had once told him that such things were rude, but he couldn’t help himself… if I ever get the nerve to say ‘hello’ in this café…[/center] tag;; allie w/ evie template;; by anna lyrics;; also train!

&& TELL ME THINGS LIKE i can't take my eyes off of you APPLAUSE lifted the air and brought a bright smile to Evie's face. She nodded a few times, whispering thank you although she was sure that nobody was really listening for it. She looked down with a blush as she lifted her guitar strap over her head, and with a firm hold on her guitar neck, she stood up and took one look around before she - paused. Perhaps it was like she sang in her song, 'when I least expected it there you were waiting at my heart's front door,' because she had given up looking for him in the crowd yet that was when his presence was known. After all, it seemed purely a fantastical idea that he'd show up here tonight. There he was...
IT was most rude to stand staring at somebody, and probably worse to stare at somebody while they were staring at you! Some people may have found that like a challenge, but all Evie saw it as was... Well, she wasn't seeing much of anything besides him. She probably looked dumbstruck, a dear in headlights, but a lot less terrified. No, her look of suprise was softer than that, happier than that, like she had seen her mother's ghost and was contently in disbelief. Her mind came back around and she tucked a curl behind her ear as she went about her business. She put her guitar away and was getting the area ready for the next performer, but she was now more aware of his presence than ever.
EVELYN was definately not the girl to go up and start conversation with him. She'd probably fumble her words and make a complete fool of herself. She wasn't good at conversation with strangers anyway, and he was not just a stranger. Although he was a stranger, Evie felt oddly comfortable with his presence although she only collided with him (quite literally) once before. She had written the last song about him after all, though would probably never admit it. After all, it had grown off of an idea, not anything palpable. Again she thought of a line in her song so that it'd make a little more sense, and even though she was the one who wrote it, she figured she'd just pretend that somebody else had and had felt the same way as her. 'Even though it was the silence that spoke, I'll be alright if we dance slow'; that was the way she kind of felt, ridiculous as it was.
IN a suddenly bold move, she decided that maybe she'd go to get a drink, and there were a few open stools near the handsome young man. She started to cut her way through the crowd, smiling at those that she passed, and thanking those who complimented her. As she neared the place where he was, she tried to preplan what she would order so she didn't look like a complete idiot just standing there dumbly. Naturally though, she would look like a complete idiot anyway because she managed to trip slightly on a chair leg. She stumbled a little bit, her rosy cheeks brightened further with a blush. She looked around, hoping nobody had watched the entire fiasco. When she reached the counter she avoided eye contact with the boy and instead order her usual sweet tea with a lemon slice. Only when she felt that she was no longer bright red with embaressment that she gave him a small smile and offered a softer-than-intended, "Hello."

NOTES: those quotes are actually lines from one of my songs, so please don't steal those though i highly doubt you would anyway! oh, and i'm sorry that all of that is pretty much rambling about the same thing i lost focus and that's what happens.
