PERSONALITY:
Magic is one of the nicest kids around. Helpful, intuitive, kind, and funny. Very very funny. He's playful and smart, and he doesn't let anything get to him, or so it seems. The side of himself that he lets people see is his jokester, artistic, dreamer self. The part of him that will do anything for a laugh, and isn't afraid to think outside of the box. The side of him that draws caricatures of people for them, or takes pictures of trash on the sidewalk...many think he's crazy, but he means well and he's one of the best people to be around. Especially if you're having a bad day or if you're in need of a smile.
There's another side of Magic, though, one that most people don't see save for a few very close friends. That's his timid side. He's very submissive, lets people walk all over him really. He doesn't like confrontation so he'll often let people have their way, even when they're wrong. When people ask about his bruises and injuries, he smiles and tells them he tried skateboarding that week and it was unsuccessful. Yes, though he hates his mother, he's protective of her. That's just who he is. He's not jumpy, though he used to be. And when people get angry, he tends to go into fight or flight mood....often it's flight. Magic doesn't stand much of a chance in a fight, though he has strong legs.

BRIEF HISTORY:
On a hot July evening, a gorgeous baby boy was born to a struggling mother in the alleyway of Sydney, Australia. Hardly able to take care of herself, the young woman left her baby in the alley. He didn't scream or cry, he just lay there content. Staring at the stars, the baby lay wrapped in newspapers. It wasn't long before someone found the baby, luckily, taking him to the closest orphanage.
They christened him Carsen Majik and he lived in the orphanage until the age of six. He had many friends, for he was nice to everyone. Always the first to help, he won the favor of the cooks and the owner of the orphanage and, ultimately, he was treated better than the other kids. On his sixth birthday, however, a woman came into the orphanage. She saw him helping out and asked where his parents were. When he replied that he had none, the woman's eyes lit up and the adoption papers were signed shortly after. Magic, a nickname he'd been given, was ecstatic. The woman, Maryanne, was beautiful. Tall, long blonde hair, gorgeous blue eyes....it seemed he finally found a home for himself.
The first time Maryanne hit him was on the night of his seventh birthday. She'd been drinking all night and when Magic failed to wash his dishes. Maryanne was outraged at his laziness, though he'd merely forgotten, and pushed him against the wall. The next morning Magic expected an apology, though he never got one. It only got worse, really. Each time he was late, stuttered over his words, forgot to say please or thank you, Maryanne would have a punishment. By the time he was twelve, Magic was very well trained. That was when Maryanne began hitting him for nothing at all. Often she would just walk into the room, her breath smelling of alcohol, and smack him across the face. Of course, Magic never told anyone, afraid that he would be taken from Maryanne and abandoned once more. Or that, worse, Maryanne would get to keep him and would beat him to death.
When he received his letter to J. Cricket, Magic jumped at the chance. He begged his guardian and after she felt she'd beat him sufficiently (and after three martini's) she agreed. Magic left as soon as possible. He dreads returning home each summer, and often stays with his friends for as long as he can. This only angers Maryanne, though, so his return home is extra hard on him. He longs for the day when he can be a pilot, one of his many dreams, and fly as far away from the witch as possible.
