a new wind is going to find your sail; that's where your journey starts.
NAME: Emily Nicole Swann
NICKNAME: Emily, Em
AGE: Seventeen
DATE OF BIRTH: June 22nd
STATUS/INTERESTED IN: Single, interested in men
EYES: Chocolate brown
HAIR: Light brown, naturally wavy, slightly beyond shoulders
STYLE: Casual; usually in jeans and a comfortable, cute top. Enjoys dresses and looking nice as well.
BODY TYPE: 5'7", 120 lbs
UNIQUE FEATURES: Always wears a locket that belonged to her deceased mother.
DISNEY SPIRIT: Elizabeth Swann, Pirates of the Caribbean.
LIKES: the beatles, adventure, iced tea, fruit, traveling, ocean, beaches, antiques, old cars, dresses, history, romantic evenings, hanging out with friends, family, having a good time, singing and dancing for fun, sneaking out, sitting on the roof, nighttime, watching the sun rise, analyzing films, script writing, filming, photography.
DISLIKES: liars, math, pressure, hypocrites (although she can be one), sciences (mainly biology), alcohol, being sick, excessive swearing, being left out, failing plans, skeletons/bones, doctors, hospitals, hearing the truth when she's trying to avoid it.
SECRETS: a year after her mother died, she didn't know how she wanted to cope with the "one year" measure marker, and decided to steal from her father's liquor cabinet. She got wasted quickly and later that night arrested. Her father bailed her out, and ever since she's had a strong disliking to alcohol because of the way it makes people act.
FEARS: heights, hospitals.
GOALS: to be a movie director above all else, though she wouldn't mind being a photographer either.
PERSONALITY: Emily is a seemingly proper young lady. Having been raised by a member of parliament, she's very aware of "how to behave," though that doesn't always mean that she acts like that. While she's normally very polite, she has her moments when she just acts rather than thinks. She likes coming up with plans, but she doesn't like the pressure that that puts on her. She feels pressure often, particularly during on holidays when she's back home attending events that may be covered by the media. Emily tries not to fret about many things, such as the media. She will then take matters into her own hands; some people may say she's a bit rash at times. Many times she will act on impulse, which is something her father frowns upon. Having raised her alone during the most trying times of their lives, only with help of some maids, he fears that she may take the wrong course - especially after her moments of crime. Emily isn't concerned though. Her father raised her well, and she has full confidence in herself and her actions.
Despite her proper presence and modesty, she's free spirited and when she's not under watchful eyes, she enjoys acting a little crazy. Some people are surprised that in some cases she can be very formal, discussing politics, and playing the role of the perfect high-society young lady. Then in other cases they are shocked to find that behind the manners and sophistication is any other teenage girl. Sometimes she feels as though she doesn't get to have adventures and is restricted by walls. She likes wide open spaces and fantastical ideas. She's a very creative girl, and wants to become a film director someday. Emily loves having her voice heard, and she loves to see dreams become a reality. For her, film is like an escape; she has the ability to make endless amount of things happen. It gives her a sense of purpose beyond the high-society lady and potential politician; it'd be an adventure in itself.
Emily is a very open minded girl, and she often searches for the better in people. She doesn't like to see good men being punished for one bad thing. She's generally a nice girl, often putting others before herself. She fights for what she believes is right, and doesn't like to sit around waiting for things to happen. Emily likes to go out and make things happen even if it means making a few sacrifices here and there. Sometimes though, she can be selfish, like everbody else in the world. Also with the selfishness comes a level of stubbornness. She has quite a bit of fight in her which can result in the stubbornness being shown, and acting without thought. She will argue until there's no tomorrow or she will walk away and make her point through actions. Emily is loyal, and if somebody was compromising the position of someone she holds dear, she will argue until everything is right or she will make sure it happens the best she can.
MOTHER: Amelia Hope Swann, deceased at age 45 due to cancer.
FATHER: Phillip James Swann, 47, member of the British Parliament.
SIBLINGS: none.
OTHERS: none.
HOMETOWN: London, England.
BRIEF HISTORY: Amelia and Phillip Swann were always destined to be from the moment they met when they were eight years old. Amelia moved in to the apartment next door to Phillip (Phil at the time), and he instantly hated her. That's the mark of true love, isn't it, a hatred at a young age? Well, that's how Amelia told the story of the life she shared with Phillip in her diary. Truth be told, Phillip only disliked Amelia (Mia at the time) because he had overheard their parents cracking jokes over wine regarding the future they would share. Phillip didn't like being told how things would be. Still, he couldn't exactly stop their future romance because he actually took a secret fancy to Amelia. It was only a matter of time before they got married. Amelia was a model, bringing in great sums of money, and Phillip was a political genius, becoming a major player in Parliament.
At the age of twenty nine, two years after being married, the Swanns decided to try for children. It took them some time before they "got it right," so to speak, and at the age of thirty Amelia gave birth to beautiful Emily. Having been raised in the high end of society, Phillip made it a note not to spoil their daughter. Despite getting the best education and the latest technology regarding her passion (films), she learned that she couldn't just ask for things. She also learned manners and to be polite. That's what living under the scrutiny of the media could do. Phillip constantly was trying to move up and gain more respect in the government, though he always had time for his family. His goal of recieving a higher position combined with her mother being a model made Emily recognizable in Political tabloids. Still, Phillip wanted to shelter her slightly, although she was fully aware of her position and there wasn't much they could do to keep her out of it.
Amelia was often away for fashion shows and the like, leaving Phillip to raise Emily most often. They created a wonderful bond, but at times it felt a bit forced. While it was clear Amelia and Phillip still loved one another, Phillip wanted his daughter to follow in his respectable footsteps. Unfortunately, his focus wasn't kept on those dreams for long because when Emily was ten her mother was diagnosed with cancer. After a while it seemed routine to hear that her mother couldn't make it to her student directed play because she had a doctor's appointment. Emily didn't mind much because she knew the importance of her mother's health. For two years Amelia was in remission, but suddenly a test showed signs that her cancer was back. She died within months. Neither Emily nor Phillip really knew how to react to that blow, and for a while both were considerably downhearted.
Then Emily recieved her letter to Jiminy Cricket Academy. A school for those with Disney spirits. It seemed a little too fantastical for Emily, and she didn't understand how she could posess the spirit of a character made up after her birth. It was then revealed in the letter that the character's spirit was within Emily initially, and influenced (in a rather unbelievable way) the production of the character Elizabeth Swann. It was freshman year and it was difficult because she constantly would write home and constantly she'd adress it to her mother and father. This worried Phillip a little bit, and when he would bring her home for holidays there wasn't much change he found in his daughter, just that she could never seem to understand the fact that her mother was truly gone. It hit her on the one year aniversary, however. She was so broken that she stormed into his liquor cabinet and drank... and drank... and drank, until she was so drunk that she had no idea what was happening anymore. She ended up wandering the streets breaking some law or another, and wound up in jail where she then passed out. When her father arrived to bail her out, they were making the phone call to him saying that she would be taken to the hospital to check her vitals because they feared acute alcohol intoxication. He paid the bail anyway, and then followed to the hospital. Emily was released the following afternoon. Through all of this, Phillip somehow kept it all away from the media. After her miserable hospital experience, Emily loathed the drink and felt a number of emotions to mirror this. She didn't want to wind up in the hospital again - she feared the hospital.
Everything was then made clear to her and she went back to J. Cricket for her sophomore year, excelling beautifully in her history and english courses, failing miserably in math and sciences, and she displayed her film talents. The year was like any other schooling year for her, and then she was home again for summer. Attending polo matches and galas, the political stories about her father would mention how "proper" his daughter had become and how she would be the "next Swann to control the political tides". Although she was "proper" she didn't quite like the title, and she definately loathed the political future comments. It just added to the pressure of becoming what she didn't want. Summer came and went and now she begins her Junior year at Jiminy Cricket Academy.
