YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Alice made her way through the Deliciae lounge, desperately trying to remember Chess' suite number. She recalled him telling her, but didn't recall the actual number. A bad memory was one of her more upsetting attributes. For her, at least. Some found it endearing our funny. To Alice, however, her bad memory was just one of the things she'd change about herself. While outwardly Alice appeared to be confident and self-loving, she was actually neither of those things. Constantly she'd worry about what people thought of her, or who she could talk to without feeling inferior. Which was why she spoke to people who seemed to be similar to her. Surely they would accept her, right? She far she had been right. Chess was one of her very best friends. Which only added to her fury at her incapability to find his room.
As Alice made her way through the hall, she felt uncomfortable with all the male attention she was gaining. While Alice hadn't changed much mentally or emotionally over the summer (she still thought boys had cooties, most of the time), physically she'd undergone a complete metamorphosis. Gone were her sweater-vests and school-girl skirts down to her knees. Her wardrobe had adapted to mostly thin tank-tops, often blue, and skirts that ended...well above her knees. Shorts such as the ones she currently wore were in, as well as cardigans, which she found a must. Her hair had grown from shoulder length to the point at which her white-golden locks fell down to her mid-back. She'd dropped her routine of heavy make-up and instead opted to a more natural look, often only using a little eyeliner or mascara. She'd grown a few inches, and had gone from a stick to definitely curvy. Over the summer she'd become a woman, even if she didn't feel like it.
When she finally remembered Chess' suite number, she flounced over to the door, knocking daintily with a small smile on her face. She sighed impatiently as she waited, getting up on her toes and twirling around idly. Some people smiled as they passed, shaking their heads slightly but not saying a word. Had it been anyone else, they might've wondered what was going on, but this was Alice. If there was one thing Alice was notorious for, that was being curious. But dancing was a close second. One of her favorite things to do, only bested by exploring. She could express anything through dancing, and she was rather good at it, which didn't hurt matters. As she realized people was watching, Alice gradually stopped, checking her phone to get the attention off of her instead. It was these subtle actions people didn't notice, but these subtle actions that gave away Alice's insecurities.

chess had been sitting in the lounge for most of his conversation with alice via IM. he had grown tired of his room and instead was sitting on one of the chair in the lounge. but of course being chess he couldn't be bothered with sitting like a normal person. instead he was sitting with his legs hanging over the back of the chair and his head hanging off the seat. basically he was sitting upside down, that was pretty much how he rolled. he also had his headphones on and a pair of drumsticks in his hands, or at least they were in his hands when he was waiting for a response from alice. he couldn't wait to see his friend, actually he was pretty excited to see all of his friends again but alice was special. she was very much like him in the fact that they were both a little mad. or maybe chess was the mad one and alice was the confused one. he often got confused about it himself. so there he sat on a chair in the lounge, sitting upside and watching all the people who were staring at him thinking that he was odd. not that it mattered much to him, chess in turn thought they were all odd for thinking that he was odd.
while he was waiting for alice he noticed that several people started whispering and looking at a pretty blonde girl that was making her way through the lounge. it was mostly the guy who were turning their heads to stare so chess really didn't bother. that was of course until he caught a glimpse of the familiar golden white hair that he recognized way too well. sitting up he saw that it was alice. "woah, someone took the time to mature over the summer." watching as she made her way to chess' door he smirked just a bit. perfect, he could mess with alice and get her all confused like he always did. slidding out of his chair and sticking his drumsticks in his back pocket her crept up behind alice and tugged gently at the ends of her hair. "if you're looking for chess he's not around." he was quite good at throwing his voice so after he had finished tugging on her hair he slipped away again making it sound like his voice was coming from behind alice. when she turned he opened the door to his room and leaned against the doorway. "well well well, if it isn't little miss alice valerie wondar. would you perhaps be looking for me?" he smiled his signature wide smile and flipped his hair out of his eyes. "look at you all grown up. the summer was good to you." YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Alice wrung her hands together as she waited for Chess, pretending not to hear the whispers behind her. She suddenly wished she hadn't changed over the summer, at least then people pretended like she were invisible. She supposed a part of her liked the attention because of the way she flipped her hair every now and then, but most of her just wished people would stop looking at her. When eyes were on her, Alice constantly wondered what was thought of her, how she looked, and how people took what she said. Not that the last part could be helped much, for Alice's mouth often moved without proper consent from her brain. As someone tugged on the ends of her hair, Alice was torn from her thought. She whirled around, about to lecture whoever had so rudely invaded her personal space, only to find no one there. "That's odd..."Alice said with an arched eyebrow. "If you're looking for Chess, he's not around," came a voice and Alice smirked. "Funny, because you sound an awful lot like 'im."
As Alice turned back around, she smiled widely. There, standing in the doorway of his room, was wonderful Chess. Alice hadn't realized how much she missed her friends until she saw him, for he was the first of her friends she'd seen since arriving back at J. Cricket. Memories of running around and creating chaos with Chess flooded her head and her smile grew, causing her ever-present dimples to make themselves known. Chess looked good as ever, his black hair messy a top his head. At one point, Alice may have found herself interested in Chess, and he was always in the back of her mind, but they were flirty best friends as it were and Alice was perfectly content with that. "Actually, Chester Jason Abrams, I was looking for those sour gummy worms you promised me," Alice replied cheekily, resting her hands on her hips. She could already see that she and Chess were off to a good start and could hardly wait for the time that they would be once again running around J. Cricket, forever questioning and annoying those around them.
Alice [/i][/size] blushed slightly at his compliment, though rolled her eyes. The last thing she wanted to hear was how much she had changed. Plenty of people had brought this up already. "Oh you look so good!", "No more little girl Alice, eh?", "Wow! Summer did you some good!" The truth was, her summer hadn't been good. Not in the least. Her father had gotten sick and her mother, resident bore at the Wondar house, had taken her shopping almost every week. It wasn't that Alice didn't enjoy shopping, for she enjoyed it very much. But with her father on bed rest, she would've rather been with him over the break. Alice was very close to her father, as she had been since she was young. Her father was a business man, always going on trips around the world, and Alice envied him for that. It was a well known fact that Alice herself wanted to see the world and she admired her father for going to places that she had only dreamed of. His illness was a tragedy to her, and she had begged her parents not to send her back to school, but there was no reasoning with them. And so, Alice found herself back at J. Cricket for another year of useless information. "Yes, I've been told I did grow up. Though why everyone seems so surprised, I'm not sure. I was quite under the impression that growing up was a natural and inevitable thing, and here everyone is acting like I'm some curious case!" Alice laughed, shaking her head. She then sighed and slid her small arms around Chess, hugging him tightly. "It's good to see you again, Chess. I missed you!"[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - status: COMPLETEtagged: CHESSwords: 644outfit: REBEL CHICnotes: YAY FRIENDS :3lyrics: FIREFLIES, OWL CITYcredit: TEMPLATE BY SHAZI ?! AT CAUTION 2.0

chess had always liked alice, she was a beautiful girl, then again most of the girls around school were very pretty but alice was one of the prettiest. he could never see himself dating alice though, she was more like a little sister to him. he laughed as she watched her look around to see where the voice was coming from but of course he was nowhere to be found. "nope. you've gone completely bonkers. chess doesn't go to this school anymore." he laughed and watched her as she looked around to see where the voice was coming from. that was one thing that chess loved, alice was the type of girl who would play along with his little games instead of getting upset and frustrated with him. "pff i have no clue what you're talking about. perhaps maybe this chess fellow that you're looking for sounds like me. i'm pretty sure that whoever this chess fellow is that i came first. so he must sounds like me." when she turned around and realized that he was standing in the doorway of his room he smiled.
he couldn't help but stare at alice, she looked beautiful with her new style. he couldn't help but smile when he thought back to last year when he had first met her. she was such an odd girl who always dressed like a school girl from a time long ago. now she looked more grown up. looking over her shoulder it seemed that chess wasn't the only one who had realized that alice had done some growing up over the summer. he didn't like the way the other guys in the lounge were watching alice and he really didn't like the way that they were giving him nods of encouragement as though he were going to do something with alice. focusing back on alice he stepped aside and gestured so that she would come into his room. grant and magic were out and about causing some trouble so chess had the room all to himself. "i have those sour gummy worms in my room but i can't promise you that you'll find them so easy. i'm pretty sure grant and magic hid them from me." closing the door behind alice he didn't bother to look back out into the lounge because he knew what ever guy in there was thinking. there would be no living in the dorms after alice left. not that it mattered much to him, he could care less that guys were thinking there was something going on. perhaps later he would enlist alice's help and play a prank on all of the boys.
chess couldn't help but laugh at alice. she was so blind as to why everyone was suddenly looking at her differently. "because my dear last year you looked like that chick from glee that wears the plaid skirts and the reindeer sweaters. this year you look beautiful and grown up. everyone is so used to seeing you as the little odd girl who used to run around with me causing trouble and whatnot. they'll get used to it eventually and things will go back to normal." alice felt probably odd because she was getting all this new attention. she wasn't used to it and chess knew that if he was a girl he would be feeling a little bit self conscious too. then again if he was a girl he would probably feel awkward anyway because he would know that he was supposed to have been a boy. so of course he would wonder why he was a girl. thankfully he didn't have to wonder about any of that and he was perfect content with being a boy. wrapping his arms around alice tightly, chess smiled. "i missed you too beautiful. the summer was boring and lonesome without you around. i missed trying to confuse you."
