Classes were too near for Teagan's comfort. She was a smart kid, but had difficulty sitting still through the lessons. She'd much rather bounce around the castle grounds or even run all the way to her little town not far from the castle. She was sure that if she ever got the stamina, she would try it over the summer. It was only about an hour and a half by car, so it wouldn't be the death of her to run it if she was careful and paced herself. She would obviously have to convince her parents considering the distance and any money for the stops she'd have to make... and then there was the run back. Maybe she wouldn't run home or to the academy; the thought was a nice one to play with though. Today she would just settle for running the grounds after some tumbling practice. She had so much energy that she felt like she could run laps and jump all day. That wasn't a new feeling for Teagan though. She often was overflowing with a bubbling amount of energy.
She probably looked odd stretching in the middle of a field, but everyone who was watching could deal. She could hear them now, "look at that freshman, she must think she's so cool, running around the castle." Was that the way high schoolers' minds worked? Teagan wondered this while she went through the normal motions. She wasn't a very efficient stretcher. She didn't keep time and make sure each part of her body was stretched evenly. Her coaches swore that it would catch up to her one day, but her body had it's own sense of timing and she was content with that. After all, if her muscles knew when enough was enough then there was no reason to argue about such a silly idea.
Standing up, Teagan rotated her ankles and stretched her arms, shoulders, and back. She ran her fingers through her hair and tied her golden brown locks into a high ponytail while surveying the field before her. There was plenty of space and the ground was dry, so she didn't have to worry about slipping at all. She was used to a spring floor however, and she knew that it was a lot harder to do gymnastics without one, so she couldn't go all out. It's going to be difficult, she told herself, but hold back a little. Her coaches had a tendency to yell at her because her body just did it's own thing when she was stretching, and even when she was practicing a routine. She had a tendency to just make up half of it on the spot which didn't serve her well in competition because she often lost the music along the way.
Then she was off. She ran until some muscles in her body acted without permission. She started with a roundoff whick lead into a whip followed by an Arabian flip, a roundoff back handspring and when she went to go do a double full, she remembered to hold back which was her immediate down fall. Rather than landing and continuing with the pass, she ended up touching her feet down and then falling on her bottom which rocked her on to her back. She hit the ground with her palm and sat back up. Damnit, she thought while tucking some whisps of hair behind her ear. Teagan wondered if she would be able to do it again and try for the double full back. She shook her head at herself, she wouldn't be able to without anybody around. While Teagan may not have the most common sense at times, she knew better than to try a stunt like that when seemingly nobody was around.
