Restless in her sleep Adriana got out of bed. Pulling on her little shawl she had in her room she quietly opened up her door and went around the halls of the dorm building she was in. Her long brown hair was planted straight on her back. However, she wasn't sure if she was supposed to be up this late but she didn't care. For she couldn't sleep and always she wanted to see what the place looked like at night.
Off in the distance she heard thunder rolling towards the campus. It was supposed to be raining and however she was in her long dressing gown and she just tip-toed along the carpet of the hallways. Going down on the long staircase of the building she went down stairs and started to explore the place.
No one was out thank goodness, or she would have been in big trouble. Adriana didn't have a candle to light her way but she knew it already having been here last year, she remembered where everything was. Coming across a large ballroom she opened the doors quietly. Then closed them and looked at the empty room. There was an eerie silence but it wouldn't last for long when a crack of thunder shook the building. Adriana dropped her shawl and started to walk towards the window to look at the raining falling down from the sky.
Adriana stood there for a moment and watched the rain. Then her eyes closed and she started to spin around in circles with her arms open. Having remembered the waltz she learned a long time go Adriana began waltzing around the room by herself in the darkness. No one was in there with her for she knew that she was alone. She was no longer tired when she started dancing alone in the dark ballroom with the lightening going off in the sky lighting it up then darkening it again. [/blockquote]

For some reason unbeknown to her, Aurora couldn’t sleep. She had tried everything she could think of. She’d read a book, counted sheep, listened to music, cleared her thoughts, but nothing could get her to go to sleep. Sighing, she pulled himself out of bed, rubbing her head as she approached her desk. She pulled a pale blue jumper over her head and pulled her long blonde hair up into a ponytail.
Deciding the only thing to do to get her to sleep was to go for a walk, she stepped out of her dorm, leaving the other two sleeping girls in darkness as she walked along the hall in bare feet, dressed in pale blue striped pyjamas. She hummed to herself under her breath as she walked, glancing around at the dark corridor. There was a few lights lit up in case of an emergency, but apart from that it was completely dark.
Aurora hugged herself closely. She had never liked the dark ever since she was a little girl but she knew that if she had stayed in that bed, she would never have gotten to sleep tonight. She yelped quietly as thunder rumbled in the corridor, quickening her pace as she rushed down the main stairs to head towards the kitchen. She was sure there might be some hot chocolate stashed away that would help her get to sleep.
Aurora heard a door open behind her, quiet but definitely having been opened. She frowned, turning on her heel and headed back towards where she had seen the door. She opened it slowly, peering in at the girl dancing in the middle. She smiled slightly, stepping inside and closing the door behind her. She sat herself down on the floor, watching her dance with an absent-minded smile, remembering her own dance in the forest with that boy she had run away from.

Lost in her thoughts whilst she was spinning around the whole ballroom she continued her little dance. For some reason dancing always made things better. Though it did remind her of her mother and father. But her father was a painter. Adriana continued wondering around in a rhythm with her legs and feet. She was barefoot on the wood floor.
Another clap of thunder came and shook the house, but knowing her. She hardly felt it considering she continued to waltz around the room. The rain came down harder outside and but she didn't mind it. Opening her eyes a little she slowed down her pace and danced normally. Knowing she was going to be picked again for the festival that might be happening sometime this year, she will be ready for it.
Finally she finished her little dance and sat in the middle of the ballroom. Adriana looked around her surroundings and noticed someone entering the room. A small smile was upon her face and she said "Couldn't sleep either?" she questioned the blonde haired girl. Adriana got up and picked up her shawl and placed it around her shoulders and then walked towards the blonde haired girl and then sat next to her.
Then the rain continued to pour down harder. Harder to the point where they could be hearing it on the roof down below in the room. "Isn't that something..." she said softly closing her eyes listening to the rain. Then opening them up again turing to the girl and studied her. [/blockquote]

Aurora blinked as she was approached, shaking her head to try and concentrate her thoughts which was never an easy thing to do. Aurora lived half in, half out of reality all of the time and so it was hard for her to concentrate on anything, let alone conversations and lessons. Her aunts had often wondered whether she had ADHD, meaning that she never could concentrate on things for long at all, but Aurora was sure that it was just that she was a day dreamer.
“Hmm?” Aurora questioned, tilting her head at the other girl with a smile. “Oh. Sleep. No, I couldn’t sleep. Not really sure why.” She shrugged her shoulders, pulling her knees up to her chest as Adriana sat down beside her. “I was going to the kitchen to get hot chocolate but your dancing distracted me. You are very good.” She ran her fingers through her pony tail, smiling absent-mindedly.
Aurora nodded as she mentioned the rain, looking up at the roof and biting her lip. It was dark and the rain was heavy. She didn’t mind rain that much, often being out in it back home, but she didn’t like storms. She had never been a fan of storms. When she was younger she would climb into one of her aunts’ beds, holding onto them tightly until the storm had passed. She didn’t like storms. “I’m Aurora but I’m known as Rose. My parents called me Aurora but my aunts call me Rose. So I can be both.”

Adriana smiled as she sat next to the blonde haired girl. Dancing had always seemed to get her mind off of things and helped her relax more. Turning back to look at the windows to watch the rain and the light coming into the ballroom she just smiled softly as she listened to the next loud crack of thunder. She just smiled and closed her eyes to listen to it.
Then she looked over at the girl that she was sitting next to. Her eyes then looked down at the ground and smiled softly when she heard her compliment. "Thank you. I just takes lots of practice" she said smiling softly at the girl next to her. Adriana studied her softly and just looked back at the center of the room then back at her. Giggling softly she said "Well, forgive me for distracting you..." she said smiling looking at her.
Her eyes just continued to view her as she introduced herself. "Ah, Its nice to meet you Aurora" she said softly to her as she smiled. "I am Adriana. Most people call me Riana for short" she said softly looking at her. "I might just call you Aurora if that's alright with you" she said looking at her a moment later as she stood up. "Perhaps i can come with you to the kitchen. Im looking for something to eat as well actually" she said smiling upon Aurora. Her new friend.

Dancing was something that Aurora did when she didn’t want to think about anything but the future. She would dance, losing herself in a world of her own and not have another care in the world. But ever since that summer when she had danced with that boy and had run away, all she could think about was him. Philip. He had called after her, shouting his name to her but he hadn’t followed. Part of her wished he had, the other part of her wished she would have stayed.
She blinked to bring herself back to the present. “I don’t like the thunder, you know. It scares me. I’ve never been a fan of it.” She smiled sweetly as Adriana talked to her. “You are very good. I can’t dance as well as that, I assure you. I just dance because it makes me forget where I am. It’s an escape. Is that what it is like for you?” she asked, looking across as Adriana. “Oh, I am never fully concentrated on anything. Don’t apologize.”
“Adriana is a pretty name. You can call me Aurora. I don’t mind. Not many people do. I haven’t seen my parents but my aunts tell me that that was my birth name, so it wouldn’t do to forget it,” Aurora said, grinning at her new friend. She pulled herself up to her feet, nodding. “We can get a hot chocolate together.” She led her out of the room and towards the kitchen, starting to look for the cups.

Adriana smiled over to the new comer who entered the ballroom. Bending down she began grabbing her shawl off the ground she placed it around her shoulders and sat next to the blonde haired girl. It was rather cold in the ballroom but she didn't feel it cause she was cooling off from dancing. Sitting on the ground she looked over to the girl known as Aurora now and listened to her say that she didn't like the sound of thunder. "My dear friend. Thunder is only noise. It can't harm you. Lightening, well, that's another story. " she said chuckling softly.
Blushing lightly when she heard the compliment she said "Thank you Aurora" she said softly. "It takes practice. I've been dancing all my life. My mother was a dancer. Come to think of it. I was from a family of dancers. I only knew my mother for a few periods of time." she said softly as she looked down at the ground and she began to fiddle with the strings off her shawl.
"Thank you Aurora" she said smiling softly. Adriana rose to her feet and smiled softly as she looked back at the empty ballroom. The storm had quietly passed through the sky but it still was pouring rain. Looking back at Aurora she smiled softly and said "Yes. I would love to have some hot chocolate with you" she said as she followed her to the kitchen. "Do you need any help Aurora?" she questioned her as she watched her new friend.
