YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYES
if ten million fireflies lit up
THE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP
if ten million fireflies lit up
THE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP
Heels clicking against the tile floor, Alice made her way into the foyer. She hadn't really planned her destination yet, she'd just been roaming around the campus, but the foyer was buzzing with excitement. Freshman running around, making new friends, upperclassmen reuniting with old friends, hugging and crying, and a particularly sinister looking group of seniors, eyeing some of the more innocent looking freshman. Alice rolled her eyes. At one point, she had been those freshman. Naive, confused, eager to please. Come to think of it...she still acted that way. Alice laughed to herself, sitting down daintily on one of the steps and watching those around her. It was odd to some people how Alice could spend hours just watching others, but to her it was fascinating. So many people acted differently when they knew that eyes were on them. Alice enjoyed seeing people in their natural state. They looked so much...happier. Not everyone, of course, but most people seemed happier when they were being themselves. leaned back on the steps, stretching her legs out in front of her. She was a tad dressed up today, her floral print dress floating around her knees. She'd paired it with a coral cardigan and a pair of navy blue heels. Her hair was twisted back into a bun, a braid of her hair circling it. She yawned and wrung her hands together, watching as a couple yelled at eachother across the foyer. "We were broken up for the summer!"
Alice
"We were taking a break! We weren't broken up!"
"IT'S THE SAME THING!"
Alice smiled, shaking her head slightly as the two yelled some more before, ultimately, kissing. Quite passionately, actually. "Oh, ew,"Alice said with a grimace, turning her head. As fond as she was of love, there was only so much she could take.
Her attention was drawn to the grandfather clock as it struck twelve, it's familiar melody signaling noon. Alice watched the clock for a moment, it's pendulum swinging back and forth, and back and forth. It made her think of a hypnotist she'd seen when she was younger. Her mother hand thrown a party, as she often did, and hired entertainment. As Alice had watched him try to hypnotize one of her mother's guests with a yo-yo, she'd spoken up kindly informing him that a yo-yo would not do the trick. While she'd thought herself being helpful, the hypnotist hadn't been too happy and had ushered her from the room. As Alice watched the clock, she found herself becoming hypnotized. Perhaps simple pendulums worked after all.
