THERE WAS A TIME I WAS everything && nothing ALL IN ONE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cam couldn't hide his pleasure at her answer. He'd half expected her to say that she was thinking about the fight with her father. Or perhaps thinking about another boy. Any of these would've been perfectly reasonable. Expected. In fact, it would make sense for Emily to like a boy other than Cam. Perhaps someone her own age. Next year, he would be gone. Could he really expect Emily to like him even though, were they to have a relationship, it would be so temporary? As it appeared, she did. Or could. The thought made his heart soar. Even graduating this year, he would enjoy every moment he had with Emily. They wouldn't talk about the end of the year or next year, but rather take each day in stride. He replayed her words in his head. "He's quite charming, very handsome, and not a bad dancer." He smiled slightly. "I think I know him, actually," he said coyly, chuckling slightly.
Cam watched her as she looked so thoughtful. He knew there was something else she'd like to say and he mentally willed her to say it. Willed her to tell him everything, for that was truly what he wanted to know. He wanted to know about her childhood, about her friends, about her days at J. Cricket. He wanted to know about her family, and her likes. Her dislikes, her pet peeves. He wanted to know what she liked in a guy, that probably most importantly. He narrowly escaped stepping on Emily's foot as he found himself lost in thought. He raised his eyebrows as she looked as if she were about to speak and he couldn't help but smile at her words. Was she serious? Did she even have to ask? "Emily, I would let you dance around the world with me," he answered honestly. He kissed her forehead lightly after he answered, smiling slightly.
Did she know how much he liked her? He thought she did. She acted as though she did, asking such a bold question. Certainly she'd already known his answer, correct? He wanted so much to kiss her but he refrained. Even if she would accept, it seemed too soon. While they'd known each other long enough, there was still so much he wanted to know about her. He looked forward to the times they would spend together. Perhaps she could even break him from his strictly rule-bound shell.

Emily had to admit, she was rather impressed with herself. She couldn't recall a time she had been so bold. While she always seemed to express herself in one way or another, she had never been that forward as far as she could tell. Even when she was arguing she held back a little, and no doubt watched her words around her father. Often she had kept her thoughts regarding feelings relatively quiet and this new courage was unexpected. She silently applauded herself for it while grinning at his words. "Really?" she went along, "so does that mean I have your approval of him then?" This was all quite bold of her! Emily then decided that she didn't want to get too used to it. In fact, she didn't want to keep driving with it because she always imagined that once somebody became too bold they weren't pleasant to be around anymore. That was one of her most recently determined fears. If she went around like she had the power to say such things (which she did in her own right), she would probably feel too powerful, like she was untouchable. That would lead to cockiness and cockiness in boys was bad enough. A cocky girl? Well, that'd actually just make her a bitch.
Emily loved the moments to follow and she smiled to herself. While the kiss was only on the forehead, it was sweet and she respected that. It was a different kind of bold than her bold; his was a subtle kind of bold, and she fancied that in him. She fancied so much in him actually. With her thoughts reeling as always, she lost her composure some, but she made it seem like she hadn't. There was just so much. There was so much that she wanted, that she hoped he wanted, that she wanted to do and to know. It was actually kind of ridiculous - in a good way, of course. The more she got to thinking, the less bold she became. She almost seemed to suddenly shy away, but the glimmer was still in her eyes that showed she didn't want to. She was putting herself in check it seemed, reminding herself of what could and couldn't be, reminding herself of everything she wanted to forget and everything she had successfully put out of her mind moments ago. Where was the boldness when she needed it? She wanted something inside of her to fight with her mind. It was a shame, really, that the girl was headstrong, otherwise she would overrule herself every moment of every day. And she would do that now.
She looked up at him, trying to read his mind. She was headstrong, she could do it if she wanted to, right? Ha! She wished. So, since she couldn't and she was losing her newfound boldness (that she wasn't sure if she liked or not), she decided to stop thinking. In order to dismiss her thoughts, she had to hear his. "So while we're dancing across the world," she began, though she didn't know how to construct the rest of her thoughts. Emily wanted to ask him to tell her about him, but she felt as though if he wanted to share he could - not to mention wouldn't it seem slightly silly to admit she liked him and still know less than she would've liked? Oh, you know enough to like him, she thought for some encouragement. "Will you tell me things I've never been told?" Her favourite things to listen to when she was getting to know anybody, were the silly things that seemed irrelevant - like their favourite childhood story or what they eat when they're sick. She wanted to know all of that and more about Cam.
